Alexander Grawoig (b. 1988, USA) is a self taught artist.
I have been told that I live in my own strange world. My life is full of extremes. All I really yearn for is simplicity; directness. In a way, painting is the most simple and direct thing in my world. Without painting, I’m overwhelmed, overworked and stressed. I’m a stranger in a modern world where I really don’t fit.
With painting, I am able to explore my perception of relativity in a visual way. I can show the layers of mystery that surround every moment in this life: the rewritten and lost history, the relationships to people and spirits, the search for faith, the physical pain that permeates each hour, the feeling that each thought is shaping your future, the unending curiosity.
